Old Freemason Books

Why do so many people go all insane when “Freemasons” are mentioned?
My grandfather, and his grandfather and hid grandfather were all Freemasons, and my grandfather was an awesome guy and according to my older family members accounts so were the others, so what’s so bad about them? I have all his Freemason books, his Freemason-wear and even a dang Freemason
bible! I even plan on being a Daughter of the Nile! (Which is a branch of Freemasonry for females.) But everyone gets all “OMFG MASONS, ILLUMINATI!” on me, so what’s going on?
The answer to your question is not a simple one that can be easily answered on this forum. However it all boils down to people fear what they do not know or understand.
Add to this the rolls of literary hacks how write about Freemasonry and have no clue as to what it is they are writing about.
I am sure your family tradition of Freemasonry is a fine one and I have no doubt that your ( Great, Great) Grandfathers were fine men. Freemasonry takes good men and makes them better men, so so it stands to reason. Plus look at the company your ancestors stood with. The likes of George Washington and Benjamin Franklin and a host of other founding fathers. 14 Presidents and prominent men for all around the world never thought that being a Freemason was anything else but a source of Pride.
I will leave you with a few links that should dispel and rumors and myths about Freemasons and any of the appendant bodies that are associated. This should better arm you to deal with the ignorance of those that would exclaim OMG! Illuminati or other such nonsense.

I would also warn you to be careful with on-line sources. Most times the ones that decry all sorts of ill, have no proof but will sound authentic. Your best be is to get a book out of the library and read.
Or just go on your current course and join one of the women’s associated groups. Good luck.
